  10. 7.8 A"Fair Go"for All Aussie?

    1. Absolute poverty is that it exists in many developing countries and has lack access to food, shelter, heath and education. Relative poverty is lack of resources in western countries such as Australia and is unable to access things like many other Australians do such as entertainment and transport.

    3. The link between education and poverty is having the right education to have the right job to have the right expenses to live. This means highly paid jobs tend to be service industries which require skill and are highly qualified workers and which people have a bachelor degree which they qualify to have these jobs. These jobs require skill and the right education meaning they have the right amount of pay to survive.Education is one of the biggest things in live because it tells you where you qualify and where your life ends up to either having a high income or in a situation of relative poverty.

    5. The figures of the map of Australia shows the statistics of the poverty rates may depend on what state is it and the population. The high figures which is South Australia is because of the high employment which people find hard to find a job due to lack of transport or due to the fact that people come from a background which have a low income earnings or a migrants that come from a non-English speaking background which is difficult to find jobs. The low figures are from places where populations are low and have better opportunities for employment such as A.C.T and N.T which have low relative poverty numbers. This is because of low population and better access to schooling, shops and transport to work places.

  13. 7.7 Spatial Inequality:An Overview

    1. Spatial inequality is where inequalities occur and the reason for these inequalities. Spatial inequality can be identified between countries, between different areas within a country, between rural and urban settlements, within and between cities, as well as between ethnic groups.

    2. The four indicators used to measure inequality is People’s health, economic resources, infant mortality rate, Daily calorie intake and access to clean water.

    3. A.The state with the highest average weekly earnings is New South Wales.

    B. Evidence suggest that Western Australia is growing Faster than South Australia due to the population growing faster, more homes are being built and higher unemployment rate which means the population growth is better than South Australia.

    C. Tasmania is proven to be the worst state according to the criteria used on the table due to having high unemployment rate, lowest average weekly earnings as a full-time adult and having the a median population growth with the least buildings being completed and built.

    4. A.Australia average for home and community care spending is around $333.

    b. The state that provides the best benefits for people over 70 is Northern Territory which provides $507 per person..

    C. The state that provides support at below the Australian average South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.

    5. A. The differences between incomes of the highest and lowest earnings communities in NSW are having Western out town earning least than those who live in Sydney or close to the Sydney CBD. The differences is seeking jobs in the Australian outback towns which is difficult and those in the city finding more advantage for seeking jobs which makes it easier for them.

B.The spatial inequality in the state is having the towns in the county side of NSW having lower income earnings than those who live in the city side which earn a much higher income. Those in the country have a huge disadvantage with job seeking and having low populations which have the availability of resources and community services lower than those in the city which everything is provided with jobs and suburbs which have big services to post offices, banks, shops and many more.

    C. Infrastructure that has disappeared from some rural communities are maintaining a viable community, Services downsized in rural communities such as banks, schools and access to public transport and the lost of 5000 hospital beds lost and 30 hospitals closed within 7 years.

    6. A. The inequalities health between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people are the indigenous people of Australia having less access to social and economic resources that increased wealth. The percentage of diseases within people is higher in Indigenous people than Non indigenous and the income earnt is much lower for Indigenous Australians.

B.The idea to improve Indigenous Australians health is by giving free vaccination to all children in those that are in Indigenous school like that one the government gives to people in state schools. Having the right education about sexual protection for indigenous Australians and having access to doctors widely around Alice Springs and those who are indigenous meaning have human rights.

    1) Explain the difference between absolute and relative poverty.
Relative poverty is when a person has at least something to eat and has a place to live but does not have enough money to by many of their needs when on the other hand absolute poverty is when the person has nothing and has fallen under the poverty line no money no anything.
    3) Outline the link between educational qualification and poverty. Give reasons to suggest why a link exists.
The link that makes poverty and educational qualification is that because of poverty there isn’t enough money to supply the child or the student to go to school and get a qualified education.
    5) Outline the spatial inequality between the states and territories of Australia using the map provided. Suggest reason to explain the highest and lowest figures.
The figures of the map of Australia on page 166 shows that the statistics of the poverty rate might depend on what state it is and the population if the state. The high figures show that it is SA because of the high employment rate which the people might find hard to find a job due the lack of transport or due to the fact that people come from a background who are migrants that come from a non-English speaking background which make it harder to find jobs. The low figures are from places where populations are low and have better opportunities for employment such as ACT and Northern Territory which have low relative poverty numbers. This is because of low population and better access to schooling, shops and transport to work places.

    c) According to the criteria, South Australia is overall the worse off. This is because it has a lower percentage rate than other states in all areas except for only being higher than NSW in the unemployment rate.

    1. Absolute poverty is being in the state of poverty where you completely don’t have any resources and help from services at all. Relative poverty is where there is only lack of resources that are required to satisfy your needs and wants and that there is help available for you.
    3. The link between educational qualification and poverty is that outside in the world there are many jobs that require a skill in other to be able to do. People who live in poverty wouldn’t have the opportunity to do these jobs if they don’t get the right skill which is through education. Education provides knowledge in many areas which are needed in some jobs. E.g. Tafe.
    5. From the map, the states that have high figures are mostly from the southern region and the lower ones are from the west and north side. I personally believe the reasons for these rates is because of the lack of education, and the population rate , areas where there are lots of people, finding jobs would be more difficult to areas than other places that have a small population.
